2024 World Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Traffic Violence

On an average day in Texas, twelve people will die in traffic crashes and more than 50 will suffer life-altering injuries, such as brain damage or loss of a limb. We gather every year for the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims to remember those who have died in traffic crashes and demand solutions from Texas governments that will reduce the amount of people being hurt in traffic crashes until we get to zero deaths.

The event will begin on the Capitol South Steps, at 1100 Congress Ave., Austin, TX 78701. We’ll start at 5pm, with simple activities to honor loved ones. The vigil will be 5:30-6:30pm, with a series of speakers.

Then we will invite you to join us in a memorial walk, to take 4,167 steps to remembers the 4,167 people who died in crashes in Texas in the last twelve months. This will be a walk around the Capitol about six times.

RSVP on Facebook.

We’re looking for volunteers to help make this event possible. If you’d like to help, please email katrina@farmandcity.org and we’ll be in touch!
