Welcome Aboard Daniel!

At the University of Oklahoma, Daniel studied music performance and letters, giving him a unique perspective. He learned to see not only the data and economic activity of a city, but its people and culture as well. He spent time reading classics, performing bassoon, studying economic development and deepening his understanding of what makes communities flourish.

Daniel grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico before attending the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. He is from a family of civil servants, who have worked for the City of Albuquerque, the State of New Mexico, and the Federal Government. Daniel is following in their footsteps by starting his career in public policy, contributing to the improvement of city life in Austin, Texas.

In the summers of his college years, Daniel found his passion for urban issues by working at the City of Albuquerque and traveling abroad. He worked at the city’s environmental health department, helping the city maintain compliance with national air quality standards and helping the department address constituent concerns. Daniel spent a summer studying urban economics in London. During this experience, he saw what density, walkability, and high-quality transit can do to bring a city to life.

Daniel is optimistic about the future of Austin, Texas. He sees the potential for the city to become one of the most important economic and cultural hubs of the country. With rapid growth comes challenges and important policy choices. Daniel is excited to work to ensure that Austin becomes a model of liveability, sustainability, and equity.

Daniel will primarily working on Farm&City’s 50 Million Texans project, which aims for smart growth, inclusive regional planning, and modernizing local development codes into an equitable, sustainable vision for the future of the Texas metropolis.
